INFORMATION PAPER No.2

LESSONS FROM THE HISTORY

HISTORY of HAZARDOUS-AREA CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL COMPONENT MANUFACTURER…..that is.

Technically, History is the study of past events (particularly of & in human affairs) usually arranged on a timeline with cross references and thus it is full of lessons , morals  and conclusions ,which may lead to clarity.

Now let us see  what lessons , morals and conclusions can possibly be present or hidden in the HISTORY of a Manufacturer of Hazardous Area Electrical Components & systems.

Lessons, basically have  information , which in turn is processed and a logical conclusion is drawn . Lessons, from History are not different in this sense.

..Now let us analyze the History of the Manufacturer.

For our purpose we will choose “X-Ex Manufacturer Ltd” and open its History ‘s Chapter No.1

Chapter 1 is usually listed in the respective web-page  as ” HOME” or “ABOUT US”

(You can choose your own Ex Components & System Manufacturer from the net.)

The HOME page will give us the following details :-

  1. The STARTING Date of the Business Activities
  2. The Contemporary products at that beginning
  3. How the Business is done
  4. The present Status (Economic)
  5. The present status (Number of products )
  6. Future Visions & Plans

……………………… and a lot more.

Our first Lesson from the History. (Lesson -1)

RELIABILITY is directly propositional to the :-

a. The number of years the company is in the same business under the same management (No Joint-Venture)

b. The number of products being manufactured  and  operational customer-services.

spiral history in EX

Logically , it follows that there is large number of equipment in operation , locally or internationally for a longer period of time.

From this we get our Second lesson

Lesson No 2

TIME-TESTED equipment are more SAFER to use .

New components or equipment are definitely WELCOME but they still have to be pass the HARD-KNOCK test. Hard-KNOCK testing is actually INSTALLING THE EQUIPMENT IN THE FIELD , LOADING ITS PARAMETERS TO THE MAXIMUM AND ANALYZING ITS OPERATIONAL BEHAVIOR OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME.

IT’S A CATCH-22 FOR THE NEW MANUFACTURERS.

Since we are going-through the History of a Ex-Manufacturer, another parameter with lesson is the CERTIFICATIONS of ZONE 2 Equipment

All Manufacturers have the Ex Certifications , as we can see on their web pages , including our manufacturer “X-Ex Manufacturer Ltd”.

CHECK FOR Ex n -CERTIFICATIONS.

ARE THEY FROM CERTIFIED CERTIFICATION BODIES OR JUST MANUFACTURER’S DECLARATIONS

We get our Lesson No.3 for this point.

Lesson No.3

CERTIFICATES FROM CBs ARE BETTER THAN MANUFACTURERS’  OWN DECLARATIONS ABOUT THEIR OWN PRODUCTS .

Internationally listed certificates gives more confidence in the respective equipment to be installed in the Hazardous Areas.

Lesson no.4

Nearly 99% of the web pages of Ex Manufacturers do not have the prices listed (No List Price).

For the price a standard procedure is followed and the price is given for the equipment after establishing a confident link with the inquirer.

With Lessons No.1,2 & 3 in mind let us analyze the PRICES of a given equipment from different manufacturer.

its an easy lesson .
